Plant Design & Review
Conceptual Design
We have found that industrial refrigeration systems are often designed, installed, and operated according to rules-of-thumb and anecdotal experience. Information on improved practices is not widely available, and owners and operators of refrigeration systems have difficulty finding reliable information on best practices for increasing capacity, improving efficiency, and maintaining safety and reliability.
We seek to improve the effectiveness and the efficiency of refrigeration systems by assisting in the early stages of the design process. We will not design the system, but rather work with you and/or your chosen engineering firm to insure that the latest developments in refrigeration technology are considered in the context of the proposed refrigeration system design.
Design Review
We have found that industrial refrigeration systems are often designed, installed, and operated according to rules-of-thumb and anecdotal experience. Information on improved practices is not widely available, and owners and operators of refrigeration systems have difficulty finding reliable information on best practices for increasing capacity, improving efficiency, and maintaining safety and reliability.
We seek to improve the effectiveness and the efficiency of refrigeration systems by providing an independent review of the refrigeration system design as it nears its final stages. Basically, the process provides "another set of eyes" that helps check not only that fundamental refrigeration and engineering principals are properly applied to the design but we also look for ways to incorporate the latest developments in refrigeration technology that underscore safety, efficiency, and reliability.
Tiered Assessment
The IRC has established a program of tiered refrigeration system evaluations or "audits" that, primarily, focus on helping end-users better understand: the current state of their refrigeration systems, approaches to improving their system energy efficiency and performance, strategies to improve system safety, and methods to enhance both the reliability and life-cycle costs of their refrigeration systems. This document outlines high-level scopes and budgets for conducting evaluations at three progressively detailed levels. The variable detail provides clients with options to gain the greatest cost/benefit for the efforts expended in this area. In all cases, the scope of the evaluation is structured to deliver results that will benefit the client.
For more information on the tiered structure, read our Industrial Refrigeration System Evaluation report. See the following examples of reports from each of the three levels.
